I bought this for my mother, who has very poor eyesight and has dementia as well.

The battery compartment and the programming controls are locked behind covers that can only be opened with a small screwdriver (supplied).

It was easy to set up – much easier than proprietary remote controls – and worked; but then it didn't, and had to be reprogrammed.
