I had much difficulty and ultimately this took me about 30 minutes of trial and error to get it connected correctly

Once you are into the app it starts you out by creating a family name and creating the rooms you have in your home

From there along the top right hand side of the app you can tap the sign to begin the device add process

There is a small reset button along the side of the device near where the power cord exits with the blinking indicator light next to it

Now for me i had to press and hold it for 5 more seconds after it started rapidly blinking green as this puts it in ap mode where it effectively broadcasts its own wireless network

Once in ap mode return to the smart life app on the add device screen
