We have had several meat thermometers that cost 3 times as much as this one but they all failed to register the right temps or stopped working after a few uses

The packing card had the meat doneness guide on the back however it would be handier if it were printed on the body of the thermometer

Compared to having to pull out the tip and then raise it up to look at the temp this will cause the temp to decrease from being waved in the air to check the temp

I purchased this digital meat probe thermometer to replace a previous one of a diferent brand that broke because the push button that released the probe broke

However this thermometer does a fine job supplying reading within 1 degrees of the thermapen in about double the time 67 seconds to settle in at the temp versus 23 seconds for the thermapen in my unscientific tests using boiling water and a glass of ice water

When the probe is folded it automatically shuts the digital thermometer off which will save the battery

The thermometer is not waterproof so youll have to wash the probe by hand or insert the probe only into boiling water to sterilize it
