My main problem with this compass which is why i knocked off a star it that the face came scratched a little through one of the degree markings it is not so bad that i cannot make it out but when you buy a new thing you kinda want it to be pristine then after that all scratches and dings are from your own adventures the problem is how the compass is packaged by silva there is no plastic covering the face of the compass it is simply mounted in cardboard

Eco friendly for sure but leaves it susceptible to the inevitable scratching of the face when they are all rubbing against one another in storage

I cannot say if this scratch came from the seller or from silva but there really is no way for the seller to prevent this from happening

Considering you can make a compass with a needle and a leaf it is amazing how many compasses out there just dont work for whatever reason they just will not reliably and repeatedly point in the same direction
