I handwashed it a few times using dish soap a nonscratch scrub sponge before putting it on the remote

Had a powder on it when we got it but it wiped right off

You even get a little extra protection from drops and there is no way the notoriously loose battery cover is going to pop off now

My kids are always knocking over the remote so this at least protects it and prevents rebooting some of the time
