U dont need to have it wired in to your electric supply, all u have to do is attach the unit at your front door and plug in the 2 other units into electric plug sockets in your house.

Its good that u get 2 units so u can have one downstairs and one upstairs so u will be able to hear it wherever u are in the house, when your doorbell is pressed.
