Pros & Cons

Pros

Shimano altus front derailleur. Works with 22-32-42 front crankset, and microshift shifters. Although my 2020 schwinn al comp mountain bike has a sunrace mega-range 7-spd freewheel, a 7- spd tourney trigger shifter, and an 8-spd kmc x8.

Smooth new shifting and solid pedaling. Shifts are fast, crisp, quiet, and smooth. Says deore but shifting is better than my original ever was.

The deore works well on a 9 speed cassette. Works great with 105 compact double shifters. Works with my old dura ace 7700 shifters.

Cage has enough clearance for an 8 speed chain so no issues there either. Setting the limiting screws was easy and, there was plenty of adjustment.

It gives me bail out gears when the ride is too long or the climb is too steep

But it does get mixed reviews

Commuters road riders and tourists who ordinarily ride on paved and smooth gravel roads also like this derailleur but those who ride over the river and up and down steep woodland hills have experienced chain slap and ghost shifting possibly because this derailleur does not have a clutch feature
