It screws in from the bottom, can not use in a sit-on kayak.

Drilled holes all the way around the line that i drew (slightly larger than line) then took a utility knife & carefully cut that out, make it nice & smooth, i think you had to drill a hole or 2 out from ea.

If you look on the scotty site they show exact measurements so you know before you buy.

The mount includes a spacer that is useful for laying out the holes (i wish the other mounts included a drilling template), but if you don't get it exactly right you will have to widen the holes a bit to get everything to fit.

Sadly it's not going to work to mount my bow mounted fishfinder flush.

There's not a flush mounted pin base to work with this.
