Pros & Cons
Pros
The samyang provides great colors and sharpness in all the pictures whether it be the night sky, sunrises/sunsets, or milky way. It also covers a large area of the sky which is nice for photographing the milky way or other large constellations. Haven'... Read More
Once you get that figured out though it is one dang fine lens. I hope to use this to get better and to make it worth upgrading to something more accurate and controllable in the future. It's completely manual but that's what i wanted.
The samyang wide-angle 14mm is very affordable at just under $250, so it makes for a good budget lens definitely compared to the canon version priced around $2,099. It works very well with my 5d miii full frame sensor. Works perfectly on my nikon d850... Read More
Aperture adjustment has good click and feels smooth. Aperture ring is tactile and clicky, perfect for stills. Vignetting is not bad, the ultra wide is great for landscapes, and it's fairly sharp in the middle.
Cons
The lens is weird on crop sensor and not really wide enough to be a fun wide angle worth the hassle of luggin this chunky mf lens around. The next big issue is the coma that is apparent (likely because they can't completely focus) at f2.
Nikon would troubleshoot another manufacturers product. I'm sure my samyang arrived faulty & or miss-aligned. Returned it and bought the zeiss.
On a full frome camera, the hood actually obscures some of the image on the copy i got. The mount is far too big and does not come close to fitting togeather with my camera. The lens is not adjustable.
