The elastic covers the microphone port as well as the ptt button and the screen and keys are covered so really there is not a lot you can do.

Perhaps one day we will get a case that allows one to xmit w/o removing device, but this would be a tough design.

The keypad is covered by the carrier and any movement will stop scanning and/or swap the a/b selection.
