There are links on this page from the vendor that describe using a flatblade screwdriver to lift a metal band that retains the socket at each end of the canister

Before getting near the car initially lift the metal band and park it on the curved end

It doesnt take much not even enough to scratch the plastic socket

Come time to do the shaft end on the hatch itself and it did not align properly

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I also could not revolve the shaft to get it to align

It looks like both of the plastic snapflap sleeves that these canisters were packaged in had already been opened when i received them in the outer undamaged box and packing paper shipped by amazon

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The fittings all four of them show no signs of use or having been installed so its possible the plastic wrapper itself frayed from bouncing around in the box
