I pointed it at my floor and squeezed the trigger a red dot appeared on the floor and it told me the temperature of where that red dot was

Point it at anything and it will accurately read the surface temperature within one degree

For example the farther you are from an object the broader the reading area so you need to take that into consideration when trying to determine the temperature of a given item

Be careful if you are using it in an engine with spark plug cables if you are near to it the thermometer will interfered and your measurement will be not real
