Highlights
Quality
The quality of my pulls have taken a noticeable step up with the addition of this tamp
So i put gt100 lbs of pressure on the tamper to compensate i lean on this tamper with the portafilter on a granite countertop
If you need a 53m tamper and dont want to spend a lot of money you cant go wrong with this product
I have long wanted a quality tamper but just didnt think it was worth the money for my home needs
Price
But the price is right it works great and the handle shape allows very effective tamping
The price was what i could justify and it is every bit as good as tampers costing over twice as much
Packaging/appearance
Heck i even got the one alton recommended in the episode the saeco aroma
Competitiveness
Which i use with my gaggia espresso machine
No need to get the more expensive models
Make sure you have accurate diameter measurement of your portafilter
Didnt want to spend more than 50 as some tampers cost up to hundreds of dollars

Early on i switched to a quality burr grinder but for some inexplicable reason i kept using the cheap plastic tamper provided by my machine with which it was impossible to apply uniform pressure

As other reviewers have stated this edge could be larger but a larger edge may not be useful if the volume of grounds prevents the tamper from sinking very deeply into the filter

Got this for my saeco aroma and it fits great its the 53 mm version

Not master barista great but the real dark mottled crema and syruplike viscocity of the shot seriously trumps the fake crema and watery consistency i got with the pressurized pf and no tamp

Someone wrote that the depth was too shallow and coffee was seeping around the base

I am convinced that i pull a better shot because of this tamper alone

The only con and reason i took one star off is its way to expensive for what it is a simple hunk of stainless steel and a bit of plastic

I seen others had casting marks but found no such bad reviews for this one
