Pros & Cons
Pros
The racor lift now stores my stock of lumber for wood working projects. It is very sturdy and allows me to easily pick through my lumber supply and then quickly raise it all out of the way.
Great overhead storage solution. Product works great and operates smoothly.
The cable assemblies are looped through the welded eyebolt and clamped with the cable end captured to prevent injury. Increase the diameter of the shaft where the cable coils as the lift is raised. They tell you to attach to 4 studs/joists.
The hand crank works well and is smooth operation. With the drill is very quick.
High ceiling allows for ample clearance for storage. But it does have moving parts, requires a sturdy bracing to install. Loading & unloading is comfortable at around 3 feet off the ground, and it reaches that easily.
Cons
The pulley wheel itself is 2 in diameter. The frame is steel, but flimsy. The bar is hollow aluminum. And most likely a lot heavier square worm gear extension shaft to inside round cable shaft.
The lag screws for the joist are junk and in some cases may not be long enough. Don't use the supplier lag bolts, they are trash.
The quality of this contraption is absolutely appalling. What was listed as a seller, was actually a different product / company. Other reviewers' experience with the whole thing falling are easy to believe.
Highlights
Quality
This worked exactly as they said it would good quality easy to install
The units feel well constructed and sturdy
One of the videos out the has a buyer complaining about poor quality control saying he had to trim off some excess metal on the gears
These plastic rings attach the end of the cable to the shaft
Price
So on top of the original cost we had to invest about another 20 for upgraded hardware
My major complaint is that the price has gone from 150 to 250 since 2014
Shipping
I imagine that these are manufactured in large quantities and then sit in a warehouse for years before being shipped
She sent me the parts manual to me got the part number from me and immediately placed an order in her system
Then racor contacted me and said they would send the axle bushings free of charge even though i made the purchase 9 years ago
Packaging/appearance
Perfect for storing my roof top tent
Finally got the christmas tree off the floor and up and out of site
Competitiveness
I did not use the provided lag bolts as they looked a little cheesy so i went out and bought 16 spax brand lags that are far superior
Unfortunately there i have not been able to find any comparable units to this one

As you can see from my pictures i had to put 2x4 to the ceiling so that i can secure more bolts from the storage rack to the 2x4 without it i would have less support to the ceiling which may cause the rack to fail and fall down

Measuring where the studs were on the ceiling was of upmost importance
