Pros

Wooden shell seems to help protect the instrument for general schlepping around. The backpack strap also helps in carrying the case when traveling with a carry-on. This case is a wonderful asset to my collection of different carrying satchels for my v...  Read More

The zippered outside pocket has room for some thin music books or a tablet. The side pocket is great for her to put her music binder in. It's larger than i anticipated, but everything fits in it well.

Has served me well on a number of roadtrips and protected my trumpet much better than the stock case. These are worth the little extra in price over 'economy' cases and can compete against more expensive ones.

The case is noticably bigger than the basic trumpet case. I was pleasantly supprised, this case has everything i needed. The case imo is not too large, though larger than the oem yamaha case i have.

Cons

Zipper leaves a glue-y/sticky residue on the trumpet's lead pipe on both ends.

The bag is superior in quality but too large for the school band lockers.

Packaging/appearance

It is kinda big so make sure it fits in any lockers at school (if you care) before tossing the packaging.

While it is pretty heavy, it is a little lighter the the hard plastic cases.

Competitiveness

I've got two protec cases, which i've owned for several years - the other's for a flugelhorn.

It is a bit larger than the hard-sided case she had, but that's okay because she can fit everything in there that she needs.

I have an old getzen eterna trumpet, about a 1969 model.

Too heavy for long hikes when there is no parking close to your gig, there needs to be more like a backpack….

This is a bit larger than you might expect but very light.

You can fit sheet music in the side pocket with ease but it can't hold a big band folder and zip it closed.

This one does have lots of storage for mutes, etc, whereas, the slimline does not.
