The good news is that this is a terrific story in which the author weaves together the storylines of two couples against the backdrop of a short period of freedom known as prague spring prior to and during the brutal invasion by the red army and its warsaw pact allies

The story becomes interesting as the author places the characters in the middle of a heady period of freedom socalled socialism with a human face as czechs celebrate their newfound ability to speak freely without fear of being picked up by the stb the secret police
