Remove the filter and immediately dump the grounds into the the trash3
I still add a paper filter because it’s hard to get the coffee grounds out of the filter

I have used a chemex off and on for many years alternating between paper filters and the chemex brand reusable filter
Easy to use far better than finicky paper filters for pourover carafes
Based on the current cost of chemex filters on amazon you could spend over 100year on filters alone

Paper is costly wasteful cloth is a messy to clean

My first 2 similar filters other brands also worked fine at first but despite careful daily cleaning and vinegar andor baking soda extra cleanings they plugged up after a number of months

If there is residue from the beans remaining which there will be lightly tap the rim of the filter against the side of the trash can

The filter must be upside down so the residue falls into the trash can
