Pros & Cons
Pros
This product meet all expectations. Great to consolidate to a single adapter. Very fast shipping. Works as expected.
Cons
This product is trash. The only way to fix it is to restart my whole computer. Contacted amazon anyways but no luck.
Highlights
Quality
Then i stumbled onto plugable works as advertised very easy to use and keeps the wires to a minimum
For daily use its a great product
The stock cables that came with the device must be in my case subject to the pin 20 problem
The obvious concern is how much lag will there be and is there a loss in quality
Competitiveness
Ive been using displaylink adapters with laptops for years and they do an amazing job mostly
Use it for output from a mac mini late 2012 to a 4k display with 3840 x 2160
Do not try to plug this into a usb3

I have a surface book 2 and for some inexplicable reason they limit you to either driving monitors out of the surface connect port or the usb c port

Im still not sure if ive understood how this functions correctly so i could be totally off base

But from everything ive read it sounds like displaylink works by essentially creating a virtual monitor and sends the data for it as a regular data signal rather than a video signal to this chipset which then deciphers the data and converts it to a video signal to be sent to your monitor
