It rhymes teaching young readers patterns! The cadence and repetition of the text is lyrical while building expectation.
The text is very catchy and the pictures are beautiful. The artist, kadir nelson, illustrates like he actually loves black skin and pays attention to its variations and nuances. It's really fun to read it different expressive ways.

If this book is the first time your child has had the idea to not share write on walls splash in the bathtub stick random things in their mouth etc then you have a magical baby and should definitely stay away from introducing these things to him or her through this book
