I then fitted the edging strip in the trench and retained the curved shape with small wooden pegs knocked into the soil either side of the edging strip

It provides firm edges which maintains manure where it is placed not spread about by birds badgers squirrels and other ‘visitors’ to the garden

Not because the edging is not sturdy enough but because stones and roots made it impossible to push it deep enough down
