The poles come with two one for hard terrain, one for soft terrain. The water i take with me is substantially heavier than the poles so their weight is really not an issue. These poles are a quick assembly and have a nice grip on the handle.

The odor (chemical/petroleum smell) is horrible. I would get nauseated. The handle and strap have horrible chemical smell that does not go away.
