My 3 cats love this brush & will line up to wait to use it. I start when they first come to our home as kittens. Our cat gives it a four paws up.
It's also very easy to use and affordable. It is undoubtedly better for your pet, too. Also, while not totally self cleaning, it is much easier than a slicker brush without the self-cleaning option.
It captures as much hair as other slicker brushes. It pushes all the hair cleanly off the bristles in one gathered bunch. There is much less mess because the hair stays in a clump when removed from the brush.
Cons
This is the second time i have tried to buy a petzoom on amazon, and both times they were counterfeit. Brushtoo flimsy, bristles bend too easy.

As for quality if you treat it right itll work day after day year and year it has for me
This brush kit is a great product
However my cats will not tolerate being brushed by the furminator
Again though this is not a substitute for the furminator

The comb kept popping out of the hole also wont allow the button to push the hair completely off the tip of the brissels
The button wont even push to the tip of the brissels
Competitiveness
I have had one of these brushes for over 10yrs
It works pretty well and my cats like it but it does not work as well as a furminator

I like the petzoom but the brush part is flimsy and get stuck down when you push the button occasionally

Not meant for a very thick coat or the brush gets bent and the button can no longer push it up
