We recently added a second dog to our home and after having to refill the water bowl many times every day we soon realized that we needed a better solution. After debating between sizes we decided to get the 1 gallon fountain. (For reference we have a 20 lbs corgi and a 40 lbs heeler.) We now just fill up once a day and there's plenty of water to go around for both dogs. If you have bigger dogs or don't want to refill as often the 2 gallon size may be best for you. Assembly was easy and we were happy to see the one gallon fountain is gray rather than green (which seems to hide hard water spots a bit better). The fountain seems to filter the water fairly well and the water doesn't get as gross and full of drool as our dog's bowl always did. Although, due to how much our dogs drink we're pouring in more water every day so that may have something to do with it. The fountain is usually quiet but can get a bit loud when the water is low. This may bother some people, but for us it's a nice reminder to refill it when the water level is low. Overall it is a very helpful addition to our home and helps keep our dogs hydrated with a lot less work on our part.  Read Less
