The velcro at the back is only overlapped by about 12 inch when it is sized to fit my head

But is not a deal breaker by any means and i found that if its really bothering me i can just adjust the parts over my ear to get a slight opening at the edge of my ear and then my ears stay warm and the sound issue is gone

Make sure you have the extended ear cover pointing down to cover and properly protect your ears
