The blender blades will not rotate when the plastic picture is tighten with rubber gasket in place

When mine was new the smell was slight not at all overwhelming

Its always best to first place liguid in the blender and start it then cut small pieces of food and then throw them in gradually

The gears that connect the base to the blade are metal many of the newer blenders have substituted plastic and they are not nearly as sturdy
