Pros

This blender is a classic. Sturdy blender. It makes ice cubes respect its authoritah (thank you cartman!

Oster blender 4093 is super powerful and blends smoothies and makes flours easily and quickly. It easily pulverizes oatmeal down to oat flour and red lentils down to lentil flour. It makes a decent smoothie. Good for smoothies, salsa and margaritas.

No frills. Works as intended. Good value. No smell any more.

Cons

The new oster is cheap, loud like freight train, sounds like it will fly apart. Piece of junk. Steer clear. While it has the same rock crushing power, this revision is 5x as loud.

I am searching for a blender that will last much longer than this unit. I am convinced that the good reviews are being written by over seas comment centers by people who have never even owned a blender! Get a different blender.

Frozen fruits require a lot of prodding or vigorous shaking off the base between pulsing. It turns and doesn't stay in place and barely blends! Stuff just sits there. The glass jar often loosens while blending and it leaks.

The stamped washer was supposed to be keyed to a flat in the motor shaft. Fit of washer to shaft was not checked during assembly.
