Pros & Cons
Pros
Starblast with the 2x barlow and orion zoom give me all the convenience, kid friendliness, and astronomy potential we need. Saw jupiter and its moons as well as a nice view of saturn and its rings!
Laser collinator is a must for the beginner and saves alot of time. Red-dot finder is just right for this scope. Great beginner scope. Ez finder not quite ez to use but it’s not a deal breaker.
Orion is a well-established company in california, with reputable customer support. I hope this clarification helps future buyers. It works well and the pics are amazing.
The included eyepieces are 50 deg, and i found a 70 deg 15 mm for about $50 on another site. Definitely get the shorty barlow lens. Orion eyepiece for better zoom.
Highly recommend. Happy the replacement is as wonderful as the original.
Cons
As soon as i get the moon or venus in view, the telescope just sags away when you take your hands off of it for a static image, and bam! Very poor q.

Competitiveness
And once it was all set up i had a 17mm 6mm 4mm to work with having ordered the 6 and 4 mm plus a 2x barlow lens
I found this particular one after a bit of additinal online research myself
The orion reddot finder is a pain to use
Again ill be solving this with a focuser upgrade in the near future

The 834 takes a good hour to cool down and if the seeing is bad theres no point in bringing the 834 out

This scope has a theoretical resolution of 1 arcsec so unless stars are tack sharp in this scope at 200x i know the seeing is worse than 1 arcsec and im best off not bothering to pull the 834 out
