Quality

The quality is everything you would expect from a top make pro spec lens as is the build quality and feel

I admit that the quality might not be as good or as fast as some of the primes but you make up for this with the convenience of...  Read More

The quality of photos captured must be seen to believe

The build quality is first rate but the zoom ring does stiffen slightly around 35mm

Price

The only downside is the weight and the price

If you are an occational photographer it might not be for you the sixe and price considered

Really at this price dont settle for less

Packaging/appearance

Shots just have so much clarity that they look 3 dimensional when printed almost popping off the paper

Competitiveness

I am using it on a nikon d7000 previously used with n 1755 2

I use it on a nikon d700 or d800 using a black rapid strap and the weight just disappears

Let me explain i did a 4year photographic apprenticeship in the late 1960s and ran my own advertising photography studio in the 1970s

At 24 on the widest end it is wider than nikons previous wide offerings in this type of lens

Had tried the tamron 2470 vc but it suffered terrible back focus issue even although it looked sharp on the viewfinder

This lens is just a beast since modern fx camera these days can bump the iso up to 3200 without any noticeable noise the lack of vr even at 70mm would certainly do the job absolutely well even at low lit situation sharpness is as good as the primes no fringing from the photos even when wide open

If you have in your possession a high end dx or a full frame fx camera then this lense is a must have item

Ok it costs in the region of £1250 but at the end of the day this is a lense has been designed for the pros but at the same time allowing us mere mortal keen amateures to experience picture quality that we may not see otherwise

When you pick the lense up it quite simply oozes quality both the other two rings for manual focusing and focal lengh adjustment are smooth and free from any backlash and with no vr function focusing is super fast and as for the quality of the photos they are frighteningly good clear and very sharp drag some up on net and check them out this is a serious lense designed to capture your subject at its best and this is why i use this as my everyday lense in fact it very rarely comes off the camera

Initial downsidethe lense is quite heavy at around 900gr and makes the camera feel very heavy to lug around but after about a month you wont notice it

Using that on a d700 will blow you apart in terms of sharpness and picture quality
