Image quality is good though a little bit below the 24120mm the only lens i have to compare to
I rented a 500mm pf last year for airshow the image quality is superb but the versatility is sometime the main shortcoming
Price
Great lens price was right and functionality great takes beautiful pictures
For a 20300mm lens with nikon quality i would say the price is a bargain
Competitiveness
I use this on a nikon 7100 so this is effectively a 750mm max zoom
The lens is large and it is the first superzoom lens i have used
The sharpness colours are much better than with some of the nikons lenses mainly because of the vr
Contrast and colors are up to nikon’s standards on higher end lenses

The only thing missing from my few days shooting is flare and ghosting due to poor weather but professional reviews of this lens as it is performing above and beyond most lenses due to nano coating to the point of making the lens hood superfluous

The above picture of a male ruby throated hummingbird a very fast and very small bird about 3 inches long should remove any doubt about the image quality
