You have to manually slide it open and it will lock into position although the lock feels somewhat flimsy

The first one arrived broken the box it arrived in was bent and the handle was cracked

I returned that and ordered another one and the box again came bent but this time the handle was ok

I did deduct one star since the handle could be a little stronger even ignoring the shipping issue it doesnt feel as strong as it could be
