A pairing of the tchaikovsky and nielsen concertos is unusual but it follows a familiar commercial ploy sweeten an outoftheway work with one that has proven sales appeal with general listeners

It might also be significant to frang that the score was begun in bergen norway it was finished later back in denmark

For such a discursive unusual work that speaks its own language that is an embarrassment of riches

The only downside would be the very fair actual recording which is soft and overall lacking in presence typical of all european recordings other then those actually recorded in britain

It may be that the now warner engineers realized they might capture her musical work by more closely miking her instrument though putting the mike nearby cannot capture what is not present in the musical interpretation in the first place
