I washed in delicate mode and didnt put in the dryer because i read other reviews about shrinkage

Im guessing the price of this pad is so high because of the organic cotton which really didnt matter all that much to me but the testing that naturpedic does for off gassing did matter

The only con is that one of the elastic straps started to come apart a bit where is attaches to the cover after i washed it following the instructions but this was likely due to the pad getting all tangled up in the straps and then spun out in the washer while it was tangled

The water sat on top of the pad

When i washed it and took it out of the washing machine there was lots of water in between all the folds when i pulled it out so i would say that yes it is water proof since the water couldnt escape during the spin cycle
