Pros
This mic does everything i want without fighting me too hard. The difference between this and my shure sm58 is huge. This mic completes our setup and works beautifully!
These actually cost less than they did 10 years ago, very solidly made. They seem pretty durable and will probably outlast all my other equipment. Only thing to point is that it does no come with the foam protection that appears on my photo.
Is it perfect? Is it amazing for the price yes! The price is very reasonable and the included case and shockmount make this a great buy. Worths every cent.
Cons
The mxl 990 is an ok hobbyist tool. The condenser capsule and headbasket acoustics are poor.

Im been performing on line for years with the mxl 990 and would not hesitate to buy another if this one goes out
It’s very heavy doesn’t feel cheap comes with a good shock mount and the sound quality is good
Be aware it’s not gonna be shure sm7b quality
I also know if i paired it with a higher quality board it would preform better

It also comes with a protective hardcase and a shockmount and a stand adapter
But when i had the chance to get different mics i went in for 3 more mxl 990s
Beginners note this requires 48v phantom power

However im used to working in the audio space as a beginner to intermediate and even i found it difficult to get it setup

Then you have to set up the software for the converter box and you have to know where to plug everything and how to actually set it up to capture the sound you want
