I got it for use on the tracfone byop program and once hooked in (took no more than 30 minutes to swap out the sim card and register on-line) the os auto-updated to android 6.

One caution - the imei number (serial number) for the phone is on a sticker on the inside of the box and you will need this to activate the phone on whatever network you want to connect to.

Do not try to remove the back of the phone to find the imei - it's glued on and you'll risk damaging the case.
