Incredibly well written easy to read and full of facts we don’t have a clue about the expressions and cliches we use everyday and often put annoying air quotes around

It amazes me how many cliches and idioms we use daily without really thinking about where they originated or in some cases what the expressions actually mean

He was as captivated as i and we found ourselves over and over quoting from the book with delight over an expression that previously was obscure but now clear with a background history
