There was a sizable dent in the outermost box, but the packaging did its job perfectly -- no damage to the 3d printer.

    I bought a monoprice select mini v2.

There are also videos on youtube (including one by monoprice) with good instructions for un-boxing and setupi downloaded the latest version (free) of the cura slicer software rather than use the old version provided by monoprice on the microsd card.

All of the parts have adhered properly to the print bed.

To remove the part from the print bed, i slide a single edge razor blade at a very shallow angle to get under an edge of a part, then carefully work the razor blade (still at a very shallow angle) under the part until the part pops off.

That was a little disappointing as i would hope then one they send would work.

Similarly with the cura that shipped on the sd was an older version and could not get it work.

Note the challenges with sd cards.

The kingston 16gb microsdhc canvas select plus, recommended on a blog, was the sd that worked.
