Pros & Cons

Pros

The mltools rake shovel shares the same great concept - the rake is flexible enough to use in places where roots would inhibit a metal rake, but the tines are sturdier than most leaf rakes. A rake, shovel and pitchfork; all three tools in one.

Heavy use tends to loosen the telescoping adjustment. They seem a little flimsy but glad i don't have to get down on knees to clear the leave.

The shovel part allows you to scoop lots more manure up in general. Very handy for many chores. Bought this to pick up dog poo in the sand at our desert house. Love the shovel part used to picked up debris quickly.

Cons

Tines bend and don't get back into proper position. There is a better item on amazon that has a wider lift and is much lighter. I have gravel in my yard and the tines on this device are plastic.

Quality

Bought two of these and had them in a huge 5 christmas stocking with the handles up

I have some lava rock that i lifted and the tines seem to be able to hold up to the digging in the rocks so i am pleased

Like the design works great just concern it wont hold up since the rake is all plastic

Packaging/appearance

Makes picking up lighter as it dumps all the dirt out of the pile

Competitiveness

Not the best rake or shovel but for a multitool its great

Their main complaint is that it was too narrow to rake effectively and they have a point but it still could definitely get a yard raked

But a couple weeks ago i was shoveling a pile of leaves into the bin and the plastic part in the front snapped off

So its not the highest quality plastic and now must go to the curb

My first experience with this rake design was the 34rake assassin34 also on amazon

So of the two models this mltools and the 34rake assassin34 i would recommend the latter even though it also suffers from a design problem with the screws that secure the handle to the shaft after a year of heavy use the screw hole in the shaft loosens to the point where it no longer holds the handle in place

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The solution is to use larger screws but they too wear into the shaft

Very light weight and picks up a lot

My husband thought it was a post hole digger
