This book helps us understand the cross-cultural nature of biblical interpretation. Diluting it with man's ideas and opinions. I especially love that the authors are not pushing any particular belief or denomination.
Good of this volume certainly outweighs the perplexing. Along the way, they tell some genuinely interesting and enlightening stories.
We believe truth is truth. Num 12:2. He’s a lot smarter dude than i’ll ever be.
Cons
Authors fail because of their underlying premise. They imply that we have ‘originals’ when we have no originals of any text. Time is not elastic as the authors assert; its measurement is.

What i really like is that they acknowledged their own biases as white american males while giving the reader freedom to examine their own culture biases

Furthermore they never say this is wrong or this is how it should be read they simply point out differences in how the western world reads the bible as compared to the eastern world and they leave it up to the reader to decide if they are interpreting the bible through a cultural bias or not

They ask questions at the end of each chapter that are openended without including the “right” answer causing you to really think and apply the instruction in the book
