I bought this for a trip and ultimately am returning because it was too bulky for my luggage.

Was not super easy to strap onto the tripod, partly probably because the crappy tripod but also due to the bulk of the box, it was challenging to balance it will screwing into tripod.

As a portable easel, capable of carrying paint brushes, paint, a palette, and a canvas; for field work, you are likely find no better solution.

If you want lightweight, go with aluminum, not wood.
