    The barrel is a little tight to move, such that if you don't screw the eyepiece down good, it will start to spin as you try to change the zoom.

    While i do not have both to compare, those that did considered the meade to be either equivalent, or (quite emphatically) better.

    What many astronomers do is use a zoom to locate an object at low magnification, and then zoom to what seems to be the best viewing magnification (again, say 16mm) and swap the zoom out for a fixed 16mm eyepiece.
