It's a great fryer but if not lined up correctly it won't work ( the heating element) so that was a bit of a headache .

I went to amazon to see if i could just buy a replacement basket when i saw the listing for a slightly newer model with the description of “dishwasher safe.

I’ve now used the new unit once, and then placed the basket in the dishwasher, per amazon’s description of a dishwasher-safe basket.
