Like any rechargable item you only want to leave it plugged in until it charges fully red light turns green

If you forgot to charge it you can use it while plugged in but it does seem to get really hot really quickly that way probably not good for motor life

It can be used with its cord but it is very short and it does not vibrate as fast on the cord as it does cordless
