This would be an ideal device for anyone needing flexibility in display output on laptops and the like limited by not having a standard vga output which is still quite common in most av display settings in training and meeting locations

I connected the device and monitor while my laptop was off and when i powered up the external monitor was up and running before i could even log in

I got this hdmigtgtvga adapter in hopes that it would work with some of my raspberry pi projects

Because these converters are actually tiny computers that convert the digital signal to analog not all of them support this old aspect ratio

I did a bit more testing and found the hdmigtgtvga conversion worked great in all scenariosraspberry pi 2 raspbian worked on new and old monitorsacer chromebook worked on new and old monitorsmacbook pro osx worked on new monitors i believe the adapter still worked on the old monitor but the mac didnt support the aspect ratio
