Pros & Cons

Pros

Axe is safer than either an axe or maul. Works best with dry wood without knots (as does every splitter) this axe is worth the money.

If you're looking for a tool to make firewood fast, this is a fantastic choice. It splits usa northeast hardwood as described in the advertisements. Putting the wood inside of an old tire keeps the wood together.

Well made and durable. Well worth the splurge. Much cheaper than a hydraulic hatchet.

The fiskars works great! Works great. This greatly reduces fatigue.

Cons

Pitter patter. No joy. It is outrageously overpriced.

This thing costs 1/4 of a hydraulic log splitter, so unless this puppy comes down to around a bill, i'll let the hydraulics do the work! It does work but the amount of energy you expend trying to control the thing makes it completely worthless. You ha...  Read More

A lot of reviewers hadnt actually purchased or used one but found the cost so excessive that it couldnt be worth it

Also the design prevents the head from driving too deep into the wood and sticking

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As i mentioned a lot of my rounds are very tough to split and i found that while the leveraxe would start to split the wood sometimes it wouldnt completely separate the pieces the way my traditional maul would

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I ended up switching back and forth depending on the round with this kind of wood i often have to resort to wedges and a sledge too

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

One other thing to mention the leveraxe is asymmetrical and you have to use it on the left side of the rounds

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This was sometimes limiting for me and i ended up circling around or rotating the heavy rounds more than i would have with my splitting maul

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The leveraxe i bought was the lightest version

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

When i ordered it i wasn’t aware there were two weights available
