I was going to pull the pump myself because i knew it had a defective start circuit but it was about 425feet down and that’s a lot of weight so i finally broke down and called the experts to do it… and it only took 3hours

Many years ago the cabin was connected to the well and the pressure tank was outside in a little enclosure that was heated in the winter with pipe tape and light bulbs likely because someone distrusted it indoors with a pressure switch and relief valve that can cause a lot of damage if either one fails… so keep the flooding potential outdoors and pay a little more not to have it freeze isn’t encouraging so i turn my off every night

The pressure valve is plumbed back up into the sink so if it pops it’ll just drain outside

If a well pump runs and there’s nothing open to allow water to flow out it only takes a few minutes for it to overheat and fail as it literally melts the internal parts… and that’s another big expense to incur if that little pressure switch fails to cut power to the pump so i’m not fully trusting the pressure switch

There was a wire on the floor and it’s not part of the system i installed

The relief valve did not come with any information so before i’d rely on it i’d be sure to check it and see what the pressure is that trips it

The only way to do it is to unscrew the cover and turn the screw while bypassing the pressure switch

This is a pretty imperfect way to have to do it and even though it was stamped “75 psi” i wanted to verify it because if you get it wrong and it’s at 150psi you could do some major damage
