There is not room for box springs of any size because the head of the bed sports a ledge that acts as a sort of shelf and would be wayyyy too tall with a mattress and box springs underneath

The biggest concern would be the shipping company handling the package with enough care that they do not break the wood panels in transit

It seems to be really good quality he rolls around on it and jumps and it doesn’t make a sound

Note the 1st bed got damaged upon delivery but like usual amazon stepped up and sent out another one immediately
