The buttons are touch sensitive so you just barely have to touch them and they respond right away

You have to unscrew the clamping plate from the main lamp and use that to screw the lamp into the base see review video

There is a 60 min timer as well so it will autoshut off for those times you know you may forget to shut it off manually
