Pros

This is a book to read if you are looking for some fresh insights on prehistoric indian civilization. What is it that binds us as indians together, who are we and where do we come from? Highly recommended read for every indian.

The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, and you need to turn the pages to find it. His candid opinions on some events and so called cultural traits leave a lot for all to ponder.

Fast paced and full of facts. Reading was a breeze. It is an absolute must read and a must have.

Excellent historical references and superbly researched. Yes, this book is keeper. Having read the "ocean of churn" already, one notices there is quite a bit of overlap.

Sanjeev sanyal brings to light the ways in which india's physical and human geography have influenced its history. He also deepens our appreciation for its landforms by associating them with interesting incidents from the past.

Cons

The later chapters on modern times are very superficial and needed more research. The author offers some interesting perspectives and helpful details but he often arrives at conclusions without much substantiating evidence.
