Pros

The handle is a little discolored now and slightly cracked, but that's because i still haven't had a chance to oil it. In a pinch grip there are some sharp corners where the blade meets the handle this is easy to fix if you want it to be more comforta...  Read More

It's a really good value but it's obviously not on par with $100+ knives. Update**i bought this knife in 2018 for $17.

I would still recommend this knife, it's great. I am willing to let other people use this one. Super happy with this purchase.

Cons

This knife is a dollar store knockoff. Even after a lengthy session on my wetstones, i could not get the blade to reach a good level of sharpness. The handle is a cheap piece of light wood glued to a cheap piece of plastic.

I like this knife it’s a reliable nakiri but it does not keep a edge for long also i feel like it has to much of blade flex

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Stainless steel will not hold an edge as well as more expensive carbon steel and for that reason it is important to refrain from cutting on plastic and glass boards

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As with all knives make sure not to put this in the dishwasher or just throw it in a drawer

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Any decent honing steel will work for this

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The nakiri is a traditional japanese knife designed for vegetables and consequently is much thinner than heavier japanese knives like the deba

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Even though this knife may look somewhat like a western cleaver do not use it to cut bone even small ones as this could easily damage the knife

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Nakiri knives have a double beveled edge but an usuba will only have a bevel on one side

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Single bevel knives require more care and skill when cutting and make sure that you purchase the correct singlebevel knife for your dominant hand as most single beveled knives are designed for right handed users
