    I had a crappy course stone that i bought from an asian market for 5 bucks, but it was so bowed i thought it was time to upgrade.

    Make sure to flatten this stone often because the softer stones wear fast and they don't work well if they aren't flat.

    I sharpen all the knives in my kitchen, from the asian market cheapies to the zwilling ja henkels.

    It takes some practice but you get a really good edge even on the cheap knives, they just won't stay sharp as long as the good ones.
